Terraces - These terraces have seen use from ancient through modern times, although currently use for this purpose is dropping off. People living today remember these terraces being used for cattle. |

| A modern building of much the same construction as ancient domestic architecture on Kavousi - Here we see concrete instead of clay, but the idea is basically the same. In ancient roofs of this style, wooden beams topped with tree branches, topped with clay form the roof. When a building of this type is abandoned the ceiling collapses and then the walls fall in on top of it, so that as you excavate you dig the walls first, the roof, and then the floor. The pithos in the right hand corner of the room was used to store clothes. |  |
